I Need Help!.....You will not believe this...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He's very active when someone looks into the pond. Notices everything and expects food.
For now it's 3 cups of pellets p/day. Maybe tomorrow or Saturday a couple of fish from the supermarket.

Installed a 100 liter drum with a pvc rack inside, holding a mosquito-net as a basket and top filled with filter-floss. Running a drain-pump to it and 2 drains at the bottom. Looks like the water is clearing up very fast, it's splashing water into the pond, which Mr. T. finds quite interesting.
Will later upgrade it with a better second one, including back-wash when I get to the final pond build.
For now the plan is to get a 1x5 meter section filled with gravel and putting pond plants in there. Water through a large spray-bar on one end, then it will go over the top at the other end into the big pond.
This way I hope to create a perfect place for bio-filtration and small fish.
Pond drain in the middle with a pipe to the side to clean out the rubbish.
Dig a hole with a 100 liter drum in it, having the water coming in under an angle, creating a vortex and then a smaller pump to filter-drums running gravity into the pond again...

Quick update...filter cleaned today and pumped out a lot of water...now with clean water, clean filter, it's quite a sight to see Mr. T. chasing the feeders.
Water really cleared up and I'm working with our cleaning lady...(the one some of you mistakenly held for a child in the video...lol), to have the filter-pads cleaned 2x a day first, then bringing it down slowly until most of the yuk is out of the water. Good progress, he really looks awesome. Colors coming up very bright.
Was amazed when our cleaning lady opened the side, Mr. T comes over, hoping for snacks, waiting and just being ok with cleaning lady stroking his head. After that, understands there's no food and just as easy turns around and goes hunting for the feeders.

Ohhh I wanna be u so bad

i wouldn't feed him koi pellets...

Seems like hes doing well though good luck.

Thanks for the comments, will try to make some pics this week. Today he was just looking awesome with part of his back out of the water in the sun. Usual spot on the water hose waiting for fish.
My colleague says he looks bigger, more fat. So let's assume mr. T. Is doing well.

Thanks, will check on the bag of food what's in it exactly. Looks like some general type of large pellets. Floating for sure and he eats it. Beats buying feeders all the time.

I agree with you 100% but if the Koi food doesn't give nutrients that the arapima needs it could change things around.

Im not sure on that though, I think since Koi are bottom feeders and that the arapima is an omnivore the nutrients in Koi food might not have what he needs.
But otherwise good luck.
