Another question for all of you...
Pond Mates for Mr. T. and the recommended minimum size.
I have several ideas, 1 being a Red Tail Cat. My market shop has one that's about 8 inch right now.
Fell in love with it and it's sold at less than 10 USD, but don't have a growout tank readily available...
Another option I look at is Tilapia, grownout they are pretty aggressive but a cheap and large enough option at about 15-20 inch.
I might go over to the Weekend Market soon and have a look over there as well, that's fish-keepers heaven on earth...drooling already thinking about it lol.

Feather Backs are another, native option, when big enough. Anyhow, look forward to your recommendations.

Thanks.
Luc

Well, with tankmates I'd suggest nothing that can fit in his mouth (of course) lol. A 8 inch RTC would easily fit in his mouth, and since you said you don't have a growout tank, thats not a great idea. I don't think a tilapia would be a great idea either...I've heard they max out at 18"? If so, your arapaima would surely be able to snack on it and if it couldn't now, it will be able to when it is bigger.

I would maybe try and find a bigger size red tail catfish or a good sized tiger shovelnose catfish

Thanks Clownknife...I fell for the RTC after seeing a video of one in a barebottom tank and his owner tickling and playing with him...absolutely amazing video.
But will wait a bit, get some more ideas...

Cheers,
Luc

Well you did it! I figured the fish would be dead by now and you proved me wrong. Your a master fish keeper in my book! Not many people can get a fish that large with out a previously set up tank or pond and keep it alive for very long.
Thank you for posting! Thanks for proving me wrong, it doesn't happen very much and I almost never admit to it LOL
Great job saving this guy!

Luc70 can obviously take care of it so gth.luc70 u have my utmost respect my hats off and I salute u
for your work

Hello all,

Few pictures, though not as nice and sharp as before. Still, I think they give an ok picture of Mr. T.
The pump you see was only in to pump out water. That way I had a good clear shot of him and changed water at the same time.

Checked on liner for the bigger pond, requested a 8x12 meter liner, which would get me an estimated 1.2~1.5 meter deep pond at 8x5 meter. That should give me enough room for now.
Big pleasant surprise is that it's only 11,000 Baht, or USD 350.00
It's the same material I use now, because it's all laid out on sand, no sharps or anything to worry about. Will round out the corners, so there's no trouble for Mr. T. swimming. And, they have it in a beige, very light brownish color. So it's much better to see him and other fish.

The other good news today is that the painters finally started, so once they finish, we can start the digging.
Maybe 2 weeks from now, start with the pond.
