I Need Help!.....You will not believe this...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
prskiller...lol...wonderful problem....but not if you're of an impatient nature, always wanting to finish and get done with it and move to the next big thing....hehe:nilly:

Made some changes in the filter and pump, creating more flow and Mr.T. is loving it. He's even rolling over in the stream and darting around playfully.
It also results in cleaner water it seems with mulm being pushed towards the pump and into the drum. So this afternoon, very nice water, just stepped outside and had a look. Cleaning lady came with food and he's snapping away on it.
Hovers in front of us, getting his strokes and pats on his head. Just looking up at you and almost like saying, keep going, I like it. lol.
He absolutely grew a lot. I'm sure of that now, he was a big fish when I first saw him, but really has put on quite some extra.
Colors are beautiful, can't see the lost scale anymore and a small cut he had behind his eye 2 weeks back is gone.
His head has this green shine over it, red spots seem to expand rapidly over his body.
Asked for a quotation on some things I need to do for the pond. Once that's in, we'll start with trial digs, small trenches to make sure we don't get surprises during the actual digging itself.
Looking forward to get pictures on it...
Cheers,
Luc

You are awesome Luc. Sounds like the big lug is warming up to you and I'm sure he or she is grateful. I hope the pond dig goes well and you and Mr. T have many happy years together.
I can only imagine the reaction of your house guests when you tell them this story of your pond and its inhabitant.

Luc, look up JohnPTC in the search on this site. he built a 10K gallon tank for his Arapaima Gigas (2 of them). you could also use "House of Sam" as a search criteria. he did a full photo layout, step by step, building the tank and then he did another thread on the changes he made to the filtration a couple years later.

ALSO, he had, or probably still has a 24/7 live streaming webcam on the tank, you can actually see the fish any time you want. last time i looked he still had the link in his signature here on MFK.

Hello Morledzep...thanks for the tip..did PM and read through all his information, including the 'Ancient Fish' section Arapaima.
Tons of information indeed, getting my knowledge up to speed very fast.
So far, in terms of filtration, there's not much to it that can go wrong currently. Changing water 2-3 times a week, got a filter mainly for mechanical filtration and to give me confidence in it, Mr.T. is looking very healthy and putting on weight with a speed that keeps me amazed.

Nice surprise for the weekend, short video that clearly shows his head and front, which, if you play in slow motion, shows how his mouth looks completely healed from the very first pictures and video I made.
Sorry for the sediment, even after water change, there's still a enough to think it's snowing...lol.
As said, need to add more feeders chewing on that.

Anyhow, starring Mr.T. in his next movie-flick... 3..2...1...

Came back this morning, Mr.T. in the corner, getting talks and pats on his head, strokes over his back from our cleaning-lady.
He's looking good as always, eager to get his pellets. Snapped away on the first bit, then starts racing around gulping down the other ones that floated away.
He's doing very well. Can't find any reason to think otherwise.
This week the Tilapia from my house will go in. Curious to see if he chases them successfully. These Tilapia are very fast and agile, so they might survive. Do hope so, nice to get some bigger fish in there. Besides, they are real hungry bastards, which hopefully helps to clean up more of the spills from the pellets.

Cheers,
Luc

Would you believe it...Post #100...lol
Well, did a water change, getting fast with it. Water clean and filling up, Mr.T. happily splashing around helping with the cleaning by stirring up all the dirt.. Cleaning Lady all happy with clear water and talking with him. I know I'm repeating myself, but it brings a big grin on my face every time I see her busy with Mr.T. They've become real good friends. Getting his food, the first gulp is always the typical snapping sound, after that he calms down and cruises around slowly gulping down the remaining pellets.
Now only if we had some time to start digging...that would be great....
