do water change keep the temp high i guess u have already added salt start the metro treatment and keep the lights off

did u do any live feeding or any other change in decoration ,water change any thing ???
I usually keep the water at 84-86 Fahrenheit, is that okay? I have been doing water changes, no change in decoration, and sometimes I fed him feeder fish. Is that bad?

Feeder fish are VERY bad.
They are kept in awful conditions and normally disease machines.
Also, goldfish carry a growth inhibiting hormone so if they are a regular part of the diet they will stunt your fish.

Feeders could be the cause of whatever is wrong. Don't use them any longer.

they are fine to add to the fishes diet (not as the ONLY food... variety is key) if you quarentine them...

BUMP: I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING. NO IMPROVEMENT. Please help!.
do massive water changes 90% or so every 6 hours if possible... my oscar was doing this and he was hardly breathing anymore but i just did nonstop water changes filled the tank up then emptied repeat every six hours... just do not reset the nitrogen cycle and your good...

Nobody has mentioned anything about nitrates being "under 50". Ideally they should be 20 maximum and a fairly hardy fish like a flowerhorn could Probly handle up to 30 with no ill effects, id start to worry when you hit 40 and 50. Then again less than 50 could mean 5, he didn't specify.
So the most constructive advice I can give other than the above nitrate stuff is to listen closely to what the people on the site have to say as they know their stuff.

Sorry but most fish can tolerate very high nitrates, my nitrate in a 1000l system hits 120ppm before my 50% weekly water change. When keeping big fish it is near impossible to keep nitrates under 50 unless you are using a denitrator or unless you do a 2 or 3 waterchanges a week.

Well then I would get up and do 2-3 water changes per week. My nitrates will never be allowed to go above 30.

30ppm in the grand scheme of things is sweet FA. Fish will tolerate extremely high levels of nitrate for short periods of time with no hassles at all. I kid you not, to keep my nitrates under 30ppm I would be doing a water change every 36-48 hours. What fish do you keep?
