So my problems is i'll be moving here in the next couple of weeks a good 1600 miles away. and My question is how owuld i go about transporting my fish
1 Keep them all alive
2 cause them as little stress as possible.

I'll be transporting a young mating pair of Dovii
Male (about 4.5 in) and Famale (2.5 to 3 in)
There are currently in a 55 to grow but once i reach my new house they will be transfered to a 300 that has already been cycled ahead of time.

so any suggestion or tips to moving fish great distances would be greatly appreciated. Im planning to do the trip in 2 dayy 3 at the most

If it's just the 2, that's easy enough. Use two 5-gallon buckets with battery powered aerators. Done.

is it really that easy? would you suggest inside the cab? i'll be driving a 4 door pickup. either or is fine by me

Yes, inside - you don't want the sun hitting them (Even with a cap, or cover, it still gets too hot in back.)

better yet, if you have some seeded sponge filters, run those off of the battery powered airator. that'll make the trip easy for your fishies.

Ok get two larger styrofoam coolers and one large rubbermaid or another large cooler for the two styros to go in. Fill the coolers with CONDITIONED TAP WATER. Not tank water because any remaining bacteria or ammonia in the tank will quickly turn to higher levels of ammonia and be deadly to the fish because theres no nitrifying bacteria to disolve the ammonia. At least with the tap you know it's going to take a little longer to build up deadly ammonia levels. When you put the coolers in the larger one heat up a thermal pack and place it in between the two styros. Then set up a battery operated air pump and your good to go.

Very good idea this the optimal way of doing things. You might not even need the heat pack as I suggested.

Heat pack in the summer? I think not! More like an ICE pack, if anything.
