I Need This Gar!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
"bad fish keepers" fall under the ideas of intentionally stunting their fish because they don't want to buy a bigger tank ect... so buying a fish knowing it it almost impossible that it does not have internal complications isn't much different I think in most people eyes... at least not in mine. I give credit to those that attempt to give these animals at least some sembilance of a life. To each his own only applies when there is nothing "bad" happening. or should.. but this I think is also very strongly ingrained in us Crazy Americans. lol at least in my family it def was.

But imo as a whole the Aquarium community should shun these fish on the same principle most do dyed fish... they live short lives because of these issues. w/out a demand "breeders" will refrain from trying to create them.

If most peopel would sit back.. I think they would see a running theme w/ SB's most true enthusistes.. as you are w/ Polys discourage/dislike or otherwise do not support them... but alot of people who "like how they look" aren't real enthusists of that particular species or niche of fish. Just something I noticed and found interesting.

I would have been wowed I think by this gator if it had been a "standard" specimin as it does look like it has been well cared for.

as long as they don't select these fish to continue breeding them (which would be difficult with a gator anyway), to each their own i guess. IMO these fish should in most cases be euthanized if they cannot function properly, and they have no appeal to me (in nature they wouldn't make it past their 6 month birthday).
again, as long as the short-body craze doesn't lead to gars being crossed to generate short-bodies...whatever. these creations in other species (by selective breeding) are disgusting.--

somebody that agrees with me. thumbs up!

I'm not a fan of short body fish, but this thing is awesome! His mouth is long as his body!

I have kept my gars for 4 years now. I would never buy any fish that has a short body. Although I feel that way, I dont see anything wrong with that gar if it is healthy. In fact, if it is health I also do not think there is anything wrong with breeding that gar for those who do like the short bodies. Genetic selection happens all the time. mutations are just nature's way of providing evolution with options. Sickle cell anemia seems to be a disease in some countries but a blessing in others to fight malaria

This fish was most likely not stunned it's a short body fish born this way there are Arowanas that are short body they call them king arowanas. And as this fish sell for high price. Kool to see a monster alligator gar short body nice upload
