Twice in the last week Ive had black bears get into my trash. Worse is they take it over to my neighbors back yard and throw it everywhere making me have to clean it up all the while looking like a jackass. :irked:

Its a mom and two cubs which is pretty scary considering I have a five year old that USE to be able to go and play in our back yard with out supervision. The crazy thing is, I live in a residential area in a big neighborhood. I use to live kind of "out in the sticks" somewhat my whole life and I have never seen a bear until now.

My neighbor called the game warden with concerns about all of the pets and small children in the area, I live LITERALLY across the street from the high school, but the game warden said that they cant do anything until the bear attacks a pet or person. Great.

We just got a puppy that likes to wake up in wee hours of the night to go outside, twice last night actually and needless to say, from now on I WILL be armed.

Just wanted to rant.

I mean I live in a small town but in Florida, along the coast like where I live, its small town connected to small town connected to small town. Im at the intersection of two major highways and live on the busiest street in the neighborhood.

About a mile and a half north of me there is a huge airforce bombing range so I guess that is where they are coming from.

i am surprised that the game warden wont do anything until the bear hurts someone

I'm not. They seem to think Red Snapper down here are endangered when in reality they are EVERYWHERE and its almost impossible to fish for anything else. On my way to drop my daughter off at school which is across the four lane state high way and in another neighborhood about two miles away I saw two other trash cans knocked over. I wonder if its the same bear and cubs covering lots of ground or if we are being invaded.

rig up something that will scare them they do not like to work at it to get food. even some thing like a motion sensing toy will work. Put it on top of a pipe standing up that they will nock down. change the item out for a different sounding item ech time or they will get used to it.

next time you see it, shoot it, it already has the taste for human food and if they relocate it, it will just come back
if you get in trouble for shooting a gun in town just say it was attacking you and you shot in self defense

set bear traps around your dumpster or set food inside the trap. that would get rid of the bears.
