We’ve gotten a bit of favorable winds which allowed the planes to go in and drop water and our smoke has diminished by 50% which means it’s about 20% of what Jexnell is seeing. It’s still difficult working though, so I’m keeping heavy labor to a minimum.
I went out to the boat yard today and swept up a pile of ash and sawdust in metal shavings from my previous efforts in building a service cart and now I am working on my wooden workbench.
Because the smoke is lifted we went out driving and I took my wife to see the school complex that I did the structural drawings on about six years ago.
But that’s not the whole story because the High school stadium (which has been completed for about 10 years now) first hit my desk in 1996. The high school never got built.
Between then and now we designed (and construction was completed on) the elementary school and middle school in this town ship; but the high school has been on hold since we completed the drawings in late 2014. So I retired not knowing if it would ever actually be built, and in spite of some code changes made to the plans after I left it is out of the ground . . . finally!
That green stuff is Exterior grade gypsum board and it will all be clad in metal, concrete, and glass. The gymnasium is just steel framing at this point though.
On the same square mile we did the Glacier Point middle school and also the Harvest elementary school.
