Sorry that you lost your beardie it is hard to have a heart for something when you loose a loved animal but think about the other reptiles that you can give a good home to don't give up because of a tragic event keep your heart in it for your beardie by continuing your love of reptile's and giving a good home to another one.

I looked on craigslist for beardies.. to see if maybe I could give one a home.
But I only found people trying to sell babies.
I'll just take a break for a while.

That's terrible, I'm so sorry.
Did you use any different chemicals in your home? Self cleaning oven or air freshener something like that? Thats so odd she went down so fast like that. Might be worth getting a necropsy if you keep other herps. Maybe something contagious like cocidia? Again sorry for your loss.

Nothing new was introduced.
It was a hot day today, but I kept the temps of her basking area at 99F.
She defecated twice today before dying, so maybe the combination of high temps in the room + dehydration?
I have no idea.
I don't really have the money for a necropsy and I've already buried her.

Thank you for the kind words.
I'm just devastated.. one of my favorite pets I've ever kept.
Always inquisitive and trying to see what I was doing, even if I blinked my eyes she would be on me like a hawk.

I'm thinking if I don't move the gecko into the the large enclosure I'll try and pick up an unfortunate beardie off of craigslist.
They're great animals..

There basking area is supposed to be between 100-105 with a cool side around 80 so the temp shouldn't have affected it. And if you bathe it regularly it shouldn't be dehydration. How old was the beardie? Is it possible that it was just its time? Did you have proper UVB and did it have plenty of greens?

I'm not sure how old the beardie was exactly, but only a couple months old.
She had access to kale and mustard greens everyday and sometimes I would mix in carrots, banana, and other fruits/veggies and of course checking to make sure they were beardie safe.
I bathed her often, and would give her water from a pipet as I couldn't get her to drink from a bowl.
For UVB, Reptisun 5.0.

The only thing I can think is that maybe it was my feeders.
But I fed my crickets potato, banana, orange slices, as well as fresh kale and mustard greens and dusted with with calcium before feeding them off.
My leopard gecko eats the same crickets and is just fine though.

Use the 10.0 bulb for your next beardie.

However, that obviously would not have killed her....you were keeping her fine, don't beat yourself up about it.

Yeah, I wanted to get the 10.0 and I'm kicking myself for not getting one.
