I have discovered that bigger is still never enough... i remember when i got my 25G i was like yeah, this is a decent size, then discovered the fish i want needed a bigger tank, so went and got a 55G saying, this should last me a while, till i decided i wanted bigger fish still... which led to me setting up my 200G... but after about a month of owning and running the 200G, i discovered even that wasn't enough, and now i want something like a 300 - 500G tank...

So in other words, its hard to ever be satisfied unless you literally have your dream tank... although even then being human, we'd probably still want to upgrade..

True, Im hoping that I can get a pond in my backyard so then the "necessity" factor would be taken out of it and I will only be left to get a tank the size I want and any fish too big (if that will be possible by the time I stop lol) can just go in my pond.

Dude you beat me to it. I was going to say, that I was waiting to see that someone on here bought a lake and the viewing windows would be delivered in a week.
I started with a 20 long when I was a kid with goldfish and whatnot. When I moved out of my parents I got a 40 breeder and thought I was set. Then a 55g came and went. Now I have a 125 and I'm thinking if I could just build a 500g I would be happy. We all know however that I am just lying to myself.:nilly:

man i went from a 10 gallon to two 10s that lasted bout a few years then after my ma past i got 200 buxs from my dad at my MAs furneral, got my aunt to get me a 29 ( gave her the 200 buxs expecting atleast 90 buxs back buuut noooo shes lieing and sayin the tank costed close to 200 which i know at wallyworld the tank cost 98 to 100 buxs at most for a 29 ) anyways had that 29 for a year and moved to eau claire wi with my aunt and had that tank for antohrer few months ( wait im missing some part, from living at my grandmothers i moved to my uncles and kept the 29 and added a 5 gallon then moved to my grandads and added the 29 i had with a 20 gallon 10 gallon and a 5 gallon and a 40 long * all were my grandads gf tank besides the 29, and 5 gallon * then moved up to my aunts in eau claire again had my 29 along with the 5 and added another 10 and that lasted about 2 or more months then moved out and got my 29 PLUS:
one 55
two more 29s
two 20s
two or three 10s
and a few more tanks i forgot a about

then moved back with my aunt and kept my 29 got rid of the rest of the tanjks for 80 buxs for all, fast forward to living with my grandmother i had my 20 gallon at the time plus a 10 i had then got a 75 gallon kept that tank tell i moved to my apt which then i got rid of for my old 20 back so then i had one 20 long one 20 standerd one 29, lived there for 3months then moved to where i am at now and i have one 20 long ( livebearer tank ) one 125 ( seemed big to me at first but like all you guys im wanting biger! ) and tanks not in use are one 20 standerd one 29

wow my hands hurt from typeiong all this!

^ I'm surprised you kept as many tanks as you did considering how much you seem to move???

my fiance bought me a glass bowl with a betta fish and a pair of bamboo shoots for our first christmas together, then I found a 10gal on the curb and bought a RES turtle for it, a month later I realized that the turtle needed a much bigger tank and a filter, so I found a 55gal and a stand for $100 on craigslist. Then I felt cheeky and bought 3 small koi. THEN i realized that the stand was designed for 2 55 gallon tanks so I bought another 55gal for $60 and filled it with a mbuna community. now I want the biggest tank that can fit through the door. but realistically I'll be in heaven with a 180gallon

A 120 gallon tank is much larger than most people have. You can't try to, "Keep up with the Jones'." Get the tank that's best for you.

I got a 30gal... octo tank tho so im kinda in my own league

Upgrading is all part of the hobby if people ask me I tell them to measure out the spot you want the tank to be and buy the biggest tank possible.
