I recently bought some new fish but should i return one due to aggression

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I should add that i have a 125 in my basement that was given to me but i dont have the room for it. I need to get a stand and conopy for it to it will be my large tank for the future. The 75 was just a tank to grow out of

I think you should dump the gt and jd and get another oscar baby. Mine survived in a 55 together for about a year then got put in a bigger tank. When you upgrade to a much larger tank like a 125 u can probly add a gt or jd. O yea and the gold sevs or any sev make a great tank mate for oscars

this kid posted on another cichlid website and said he brought the gt and jd back so he just has the oscar and sev now so he should be fine

Well I'm lost with all the different tank sizes mentioned.

I never tried a GT with a JD but all I hear is they aren't good tankmates. I do think however that it would work if they had more room.

The fish are in a 20 gallon but will be moved to a 55 and then maybe a 75. He got rid of the jd and gt so he should be fine with the 1 oscar and sev in a 75 but to add anything he needs bigger

Green terrors can be really, really mean if you get a mean male. For some reson nobody has brought that up. They can be plane nasty. And from my own experiance g/ts and j/ds can be mixed but if the g/t desides to flex some muscle the j/d is usually its first choice.

Oh and someone said they are alone on thinking j/ds are pretty docile. I have had a few over the years and I totally agree. I have a 7 1/2 inch j/d now that backs down from a 3 1/2 inch female firemouth. Its pretty funny to see.

ive seen some aggressive jd's my friends did the same thing he had to be separated from other fish with a divider and he would bash into it trying to get to the other fish
