I started a crazy project - Big ray habitat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hello,

no problem, I´d love it if I could keep my rays outside too :)
If u use a wet/dry shower I´d prefer PVC, GFK or PE because it is cheaper then StainlessSteel an more "neutral" because of the rays.

And it depends on what effency u want and how much money u want to spend,
ofcourse a Nexxus Filter with moving Bed is more expensive then a Wet/Dry with the ceramic, but the "mikromilimeter" bacterias settle in in the Ceramicrs ring and die u will never get out again so from month to month you have less bacteria space.

So like I said Drum-Filter- Nexus Filter(kaldness moving bed) and an O2-Generator from a Hospital, fish will thank it to u allot if the O2 is constantly high.
U can programm an Aquarium-Computer so that it let the 02-Generator run when it needs it.
With perfekt O2 in your water the fish are more often hungry, healthier and wounds get away much more faster. But an expensive tool(ofcourse cheap in comperison with a drum-filter), u don´t need only the Generator u need a "02-Mixer" too.
That would be "Premuim Gold Koi "-Standard of filtration :) And I think if u do a project like that it should get the best of the best technique.
Many use O³ too, but I´m not a big fan of it, because it needs just small mistakes and your fish are all dead.

Hi Alex,

Thanks so much for your valuable input. yes, i will make what ever possible to make the whole system best suit for all my ray. i am looking at O2 generator too. may be can get some real nice pcs from Germany. can you recommend some? actually i am getting all my water pump and air blower from germany. the red dragon or the other one, i forgot the brand. My friend will help me to get it and ship to me.

may be you can talk with my friend? we need your help. thanks in advance.

Hi all, few more photo for the latest update, photo taken this morning.

the concrete base of 2nd level tank is ready on one row, as you can see, i make some sky windows on this so that some sun light will go to the bottom tank.

the center of this 2 row of tank is the filter compartment of 1.2m x 20m x 1m, it will be walking path too. will walk on top of this filter.

the 2nd level will be with all 4 side with 15mm glass, and on top of this 2nd level tank, will be covered with 15mm tempered glass left with 2' window for access into the tank. so you can walk on top of the 2nd level tank, and look the ray from top. the ray may place themself upside down with this setup, nice view to look at their bottom, lol.

I plan to make 2 rooms directly on top of this glass. will be my future office and rest room. my future special guest can sleep in one of this room too. ;-)
