Do a water change and cut down on your light. Also is your tank getting direct sunlight from a window. You need to move it..
He already is

If all else fails use an algone pad. Works every time for me. Won't harm the fish.

The tank has only been set up 3 weeks? What are your ammonia, nitrItes and nitrAte test results?

Please don't put anything into your tank, green water/algae problems should never be "solved" using chemicals.

3 days of darkness

had this happen to a 10 gallon i had unfortunately been neglecting a bit. just did some substantial water changes and turned the light off for 4-5 days, no big deal

o ammonia tank has allready cycled some nitrates and no nitrites the ph is a littlle low but that aint an issue i dont think the fish are all fine it just looks awful at least from the side of the tank not that bad from the front

well a UV light will help with that also..
You can find them on ebay or in most pet stores.
Some can be costly so do your homework.. I have three, looking for a few more for my ray tanks since I cant keep alge eaters in the tanks.. they work well for me in the tanks they are in..
Is it just the water thats green, or do you have any alge on the sides of the glass.. look behind the intake and outlet of your filter tubes.. thats were mine likes to hid if I get it, never enough to cause green water though.. :)

are you feeding the fish to frequently? and are you putting to much food in at a time?, try to cut down on that if you are, water changes along with that may help.

As stated already...DONT add ANY chemicals. As a newb I did this a few years back and my fish would get seizures....and eventually die.

Just keep the lights out for a week. ANd if you do wc's every other day it will rid of the green water quick!
