i think i have an algae bloom please help

Thanks for the post. My tank is having a serious green algae bloom and I was quite worried. And yes the nitrates are lower. I guess it is time for an algae eater.
 
Even with daily water changes and your lights off and almost no food, you're getting greener water?
 
yes and its getting darker green my freind told me to try accuclear i didnt wanna use chemicals but i have no choice i couldent find any willow branches i looked everywhere
 
Try a phosphate absorbent filter medium first and hold off on the water changes while the pad does its work. Most likely your tap water has enough phosphates, etc., to feed the algae. Wouldn't have guessed that before, but since increasing water changes has increased your algae, it's a possibility. I don't know if carbon absorbs phosphate but I do know there are specific blocks, sponges, etc. that do suck it right up. And that should starve your algae without hurting anything else.
 
awsome im willing to try anything i was looking forward to the willow branch but i couldent find any i will go to the lfs and see what they have to absorb phosphate
