I love my sav, by far the most personable reptile i've seen, a word of caution though, even though my sav is quite tame a gets along with people quite well, they have their mood swings and will not hesitate to let you know when they want to be left alone, read their warnings well and it shouldn't be a problem.
^ agree.
mine will puff up if i let him out and get to close...but *touch wood* hasnt bitten or tail whipped me. but then we r still at the taming down stage.
for the taming down im going with the 'natural' approach, i suppose u could call it.
because he was so badly treated at his last place im just spending lots of time with him. i spend about 20mins everyday just sitting next to his viv and talking to him, at first with the door shut but now hes used to me i open it and hes at ease with it.
obv everyday is water, every other day is food, so im in and out of his viv.
now as soon as i walk in the room he comes out/wakes up to see who is around and i will open the door and he can come out for a wonder. then i will just place my hands infront of him to try and steer him back in the viv.
as i said, i have only picked him up when he needs to go back. i think he wants the cuddles as u can see from the pic i posted, but i just want to make sure he is ready for it, just go with the flow kinda thing.
as long as HE trusts me thats all that matters.
