I think we are being persuaded by the wrong people

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As the group goes here I don't think any of us mistreat our fish either. How ever that is not the message the ARA's send out. Our voices never get heard buy yhe public though because we are to busy tending our fish and actualy working. These nut job groups don't work they live off of money they obtain frauduently. Even big businesses will bend over backwards to keep these people happy. It does'nt work they will actually never be happy because they are sad disturbed people. Their tactics are clever though and if you read some of their propoganda you could get hooked up. They have also been spreading through out the education system. My brother came home school one time with PETA trash asking how far kids would go to support them. This was scary because my brothers were in grades 4 and 5. Some how we have to get the right message out there.

This being a fish forum, I asked a specific fish question. Would you give your life for that same tetra?

That answer should pretty much decide in my mind what level of crazy you are at.
if a tetra died I could still sleep like a baby. my first reaction though would be "damn that's the 4th one this week"

That IS scary and i would be furious.
Who the hell are they to decide ? Thats a parents job

I don't expect people to share my opinions. I see Bills point, I would love to see extreme ARA's get what they deserve. I just don't see what makes our species better than others. Because we can destroy the planet quicker? Because we know when we're causing others to suffer but do horrible things anyway? If someone can give me a legitimate response for why our species is superior, I'll accept it. Until then I plan to keep my opinions just the way they are. If anyone has a proper reason for why our species is better than others please PM me, we can discuss it there, and stop filling Bills thread up with useless opinions.
we will just base this off of history. start with dinosaurs. the top predator was the t-rex. it is a superior species. after their extinction there were always a dominant animal. humans come along and have the ability to perform tasks that make us the most advanced species on earth. we are so advanced that we are capable of acknowledging are own flaws. We attempt to develop systems to correct are flaws. we understand what we are doing, we know right from wrong. we are not destroying the earth, just making it ideal and convenient for our survival. we are the most superior species because we are capable of changing things for the better of our own race. putting humans first. if any other animal was advanced enough to better their own life I guarantee that they would in a second. just because they can't does not mean we should change our way of life, a way of life that has aloud our species to thrive for years to accompany for those that cannot on their own. we should not lower ourselves to others and we should not expect others to.

I gave an obvious extreme and not ideal example, but that was intentional to get my message across

I wouldn't want to harm anyone at all

but my point is, bottom line, a human's life is more important. that's the bottom line. my problem with your view and other people's view is that you would choose your pet's life over a human that is a stranger to you. no matter how I try to rationalize or debate it in my mind one way or the other, I would choose the human life over the non human life 100% of the time

and that is where I think you guys are pretty crazy to see it that way
I must agree with you. when it comes down to animal or human being saved in my mind I see the dog as "just a dog"

Really, who is to say either way. I see both sides of the argument. I can say I have loved a dog as much as a human but it is a different love granted. I know my dogs would give their life for me and my family and their is something to be said about that. The love of a child is something rooted a little deeper in our DNA. We are biologically programmed to hold them most dear, well they are 50% our genetics...

But this isn't about dogs, it's about fish.

HELLO

A fish that wholesales for 20 cents in Asia, or a human life.

Exactly ........

You may be focused on that one post in regard to the tetra but really this thread seems to be about human life vs. animal life and which holds more value.
