except retifer needs cold water.

Some your information needs some fine tuning.

Actually the Chain Catshark needs water temps below 56F, the Swell Shark and The Gulf Catshark need to be below 66F, and the Rusty Carpet Shark, and Cobbler's Wobbegong need to below 70F.

Also the Mexican Horn Shark needs a larger tank than 250 gallons. And the Brown Smoothhound needs a tank larger than 1,000 gallons.

In a 500 you could have a trio of coral cats or marbled cats without a problem as long as you have proper filtration. Maybe something like 8x4x2 or similar dimension :naughty:

HTH and listen to these guys, most of them know what they are talking about ;)

GL!

Keep in mind, no sharks are common in the aquarium trade. Some can be considered "moderately frequent." Everything else is rather pricy.

While I would agree that is true of most "Common Aquarium Sharks" - such as Horn Sharks, Epaulettes, and Coral Catsharks.

The Brown-banded Bamboos or Banded Cat sharks (as they are often called in LFS) are quite common. While they may not seem common compared to Clownfish or Damsels. However they are still the most common shark or ray(by far) found in LFSs.

I would save a shark and save money by investing in another fish.
