I love all the bull dog breeds but the bull mastif is my favorite. The English bulldogs do have alot of problems and if you do decide to get one make sure you research the breeder. There are a lot of healthy english bulldogs out there you just have to do your homework and find a good breeder. One that will stand by there dogs and give you a guarantee of health.

Mastiffs are the biggest couch potatoes, I love 'em!!! Most dogs of that size end up having hip problems because they're so big. It probably has to do with the geneology though, just my guess. Newfoundlands are cool dogs too; enormous, fluffy, living teddy bears, and really strong. One of my high school friend's uncles breeds Newfies. She has a year old one, and his father uses a freaking log as a chew toy, carries it in his mouth.

I have a 4 year old english bulldog female. She is the best thing in the world. Most loveable dog ever. I actually have 5 dogs...2 pits, german sheopard, a chiwawa lol and her. She was the runt. She is only 33 lbs and should be like 50lbs or so. She does have cherry eye that shows itself once and awhile but not enough to put her into surery. Otherwise, knok on wood, no breathing, arthritus or any other common bulldog problems. She is a brindle too! I will post new pics tonight, these are some older ones

We have three bulldogs, an english and two frenchies
(Q-Pid, Daichi & Tank)

The only problem that Q-Pid (the english bulldog) has
had so far is cherry eye (which has been corrected)
and has been fortunate in not having more problems
that the breed may be prone to.

He is perhaps the most active and athletic of the trio
(but also, at 3yrs old, the youngest), loves to run and
play (has maintained his 'puppy-like' energy); his favorite
past time is attempting to catch the lizards in the backyard.

Both breeds are great companion dogs and love people.

Q-Pid ('cupid', 3yrs old, 55lbs)

Daichi (8yrs old, the leader of the pack despite being the smallest, 28lbs)
He does get winded easily, a brisk walk on a warm day is a 'no-go' with him

Tank (6yrs old, 32lbs)

"Snores like a sumo wrestler" HAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Awesome description! Michael, your bulldog looks like a butt-wagger (can't wag their vague implication of a tail without wagging the whole back half of the body), am I right?

Great bullies everyone..i want one of these.... :hearts:

Can't run well, Check.

Can't play fetch/ball/etc, check.

Has tons of hip/joint problems, check.

Looks the part (short chunky limbs, big belly, very short or almost
nonexistent neck, pudgy face, etc), check.

Has a hard time breathing, check.

Lots and lots of medical problems, check.

Lazy, check.

Messy, check.

I'm not sure all of these characteristics apply to all of them. My bulldog has
only one of these traits (in that he can be messy at times, he does drool but
not excessively...except right before feeding time! :WHOA:).

Well, he also does have a pudgy face, but lacks the other cited physical
traits ("short chunky limbs, big belly and non-existant neck"), at least in
my opinion. He's definately solid though:

I will admit that the 'show-quality' bulldogs seem to have a lot of those traits, though.

hmm. i just realized that a bulldog doesnt fit me very well...

usually a dog should match its owner...(like in the pic. they're all bulldogs) im kinda lean... lol

but i still want one.
