hmm. i just realized that a bulldog doesnt fit me very well...

usually a dog should match its owner...(like in the pic. they're all bulldogs) im kinda lean... lol

but i still want one.

A Boxer would be perfect for you!!!! My friend's boxer has almost no body fat

They are beautiful natured dogs and not all have problems but be prepared. It is hard to risist when they are tiny like this. This was our Moonshine. We had her for 10yrs with out any medical problems at all until 10 yrs.She went blind at this age so we put her to sleep.RIP

"Snores like a sumo wrestler" HAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Awesome description! Michael, your bulldog looks like a butt-wagger (can't wag their vague implication of a tail without wagging the whole back half of the body), am I right?

best dog ever

OMG I am in love.
Mine is tan and white. Very very large head. No neck what so ever. Short stocky legs and little tiny butt. I will have to get some pics of him.
I so want to get a brindle female.

Talking about dogs, not people. And yes, bulldogs do indeed appear that way in terms of dogs.

Can't run well, Check.

Can't play fetch/ball/etc, check.
Has tons of hip/joint problems, check.

Looks the part (short chunky limbs, big belly, very short or almost nonexistent neck, pudgy face, etc), check.

Has a hard time breathing, check.

Lots and lots of medical problems, check.

Lazy, check.

Messy, check.

As for America having a lot of fat people, I'm far from being one of them, so I could care less about that comment, lol. ;)

To be honest soooo many dogs fit those stereo types. lol And unless we're talking toy/small breeds most pure breeds we see in the U.S. have hip/other medical problems from a blood line that sees no new blood.

BTW I would not run for the nearest mixed dog you can find because of cost. Mixed dogs from the shelter are cool, and I've seen some great dogs there that would make good adoptable dogs. But in the end you have to be happy with the dog you get in order to show it the love it will deserve. Pure breeds can still be healthy dogs, but you need to find a breeder who cares about what they are producing.

Great dogs.. But can come with their share of problems as well. I bought mine for under 1k and have probably 2k in it.. As with every breed though it's sorting out a good breeder which will keep you from seeing the vet regularly. Which I didn't realize til after the fact.

When choosing a dog it should fit your lifestyle as well. Like if you go running everyday for miles and want a companion obviously a bull dog wouldn't be ideal. Or if you like play every once in a while but happy with a lazy dog then you don't need a real active breed. BTW just realized the bull dog/marine connection.. very cool. :)

Those puppies are adorable!!!! What is the connection with Marines and bulldogs?

Another thing to consider when chosing a dog is what your living area is like. For example, you wouldn't want to have a hunting dog like a retrieved in an apartment. That's why I want to get a greyhound when I can. They're mellow dogs that hardly ever bark but are also highly athletic.

The bulldog is the marine mascot..
