I want really rare fish.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah def cant keep a wels in a 125 haha but haitiensis pair would be cool

Some of the rare fish are pretty cool. I've kept many of them over the years and some I still have while others although rare just didn't do it for me. Often times we want something rare just to say we have it in our tanks but the novelty wears off after awhile and you're often times left with a fish that you really don't care for all that much but you spent so much money for it you can't bring yourself to get rid of it. You should research on your own and find a fish that really appeals to you be it rare or not and get it, and enjoy it. I have to admit I've spent a pretty penny on some fish that I no longer have weather it be that they didn't play nice with other fish or they were so skidish I got tired of messing with them. Someone mentioned Urau Fern. and I had those years ago and if I had it to do over I would keep them again in a heartbeat so that would make a nice tank but just know they aren't cheap and if you want rare you will pay the price. A nice group of Altum Angelfish would make a great tank and they grow really huge and are in my opinion some of the coolest looking cichlids out there right now but ultimedly its up to you and what you really want in your tank.

I say find yourself a really nice pair of wild caught Festae.
I missed my opportunity when we had some locally, $75 per fish was a good deal too.
I went in the day of delivery but they were still in QT.
Went back a few days later & they were sold out.

Or find a high grade Super Red Texas.

yeah you definitely couldn't keep a wels catfish inside a 125...though you might be able to keep a 125 inside a wels catfish :D

Another vote for the festae!

Festae are nice but there is so much hype surrounding them right now makes them less desirable to me anyway sure to drive price up as well

As Mike said, the OP should look through some fish books..or online...and find some fish that look interesting...figure out what will fit into his available tanks...and try them out.

Hype, "rarity", etc. are so pointless...

I have to agree with this and Driftwood's post. No sense in just shot gunning species names, you have to keep what you like. Not every species you try is going to be a home run. I keep some very common fish and some very uncommon fish. Look around, read and try, then most likly you'll try again like the rest of us.
