Why keep massive fish causing the market to be flooded with them and muppets buying them. Most die or lead an awful life.

And tuda, they dont know any different so how do they know what a good life is, if you beat and abuse a cat/ dog its gonna have happy moments where its running around looking happy. Fish have nothing to do in a tank, suprised they dont die of bordem.

Jaket. I know you don't like the idea of big fish in small tanks but hey don't call ppl housing them for stupid. I have been at several places 'round where I live in Sweden and bought some big cats, RTC, TSN & Iredecent sharks. The salesmen didn't even mention how big any of the fish gets, they just "yea yea great fish you must buy! great fish! They wanna get rid of them as soon as possible and when I ask them how big they get they toldl me it's gonna be just fine as long as I have a 125g tank.. I have bought them so that I can put them in my indoor pond when they get big enough. Imagine those not knowing of how big they get and they put them in a 50g tank for life.
With this I wanna say that if you can give the fish good water conditions and some space its better than the 10year old boy buying it cause its cute at 1"

I know my english aint very good, hope you understand me.

Everyone is to play nice. This thread can be a very useful resource for people to read.

when someone buys a RTC or TSN for some reason they dont belive they get as big as people tell them and go ahead and buy one anyway

for some other reason most people seam to think a 6ftx2ftx2ft tank is massive and once they have a tank that size they can home any size fish

if you have a tank big enought to home a RTC or TSN for life go ahead and buy one

if you are one of these jokers who says they will get the big tank when they need it dont go near a RTC or TSN as 80% of these big tanks never happen

This question always comes up time after time. And people keep these fish in 125 gallon tanks.....

What is the minamum tank size for an rtc

and what is the min. for a tsn

HOw long could these fish be kept in these size tanks

90 gallon
125 gallon
150 gallon
180 gallon
220 gallon

Dont flame me i dont have one of these species but just for everones sake i posted this......

here is my take on it

1) rtc and tsn are very large fish 4-6 feet

2) big fish need bigger tanks imo the tank at a minimum be 2 1/2 times the length of the fish and at least a little wider than the fish is long....round pools are sized differently....

3) as a fish grows you must keep in mind #2

4) great filtration and massive water changes are a must

both tsn and rtc grow fast... more food and better water they grow faster

so you can expect them to out grow a 220 within 18 months...ime

so to start with the correct size tank, think about a foot print 6x15 feet, that is why ponds or pools are popular to keep large cats in.

2 cents
