I Went TWO MONTHS Without Buying a Fish

It's hard for me not to buy new fish. I've always had hobbies and a lot of times, I want to change up my tank's stock or look. I guess I will never stop buying fish until my tank looks perfect. It's not really a problem if you sell some too and don't overstock.
 
i buy food ect the day before fish come in... not the day of or the day after... i find i buy fish way more often when the new shipment is being floated then when its in the tank. but all bets are off if i find something ive been looking for for monthes... usually when i give up on finding something.. the lfs gets one :/. ide rather sell fish then keep something until it dies if i lose interest in it. that and my husband has made a rule... if i bring something home, something else has to go. it works actually pretty well to control impulse buys ect.
 
I sat back a few weeks back, looked at my 125 and saw that my girlfriends 'It looks empty, lets buy some more' approach we took originally was beginning to backfire 3 months on. My two cute little Oscars are already at 7 inches, my Lima Shovelnose has reached 6 inches and those previously tiny Bala sharks are growing bigger by the day. Throw in my Malawi's doubling in size plus my albino bristlenose getting fat and you see why I'm now in the position of making some difficult decisions.

Sadly half of my stock is going to be sold on or rehoused - the Bala's and most Malawi's are going, hopefully I can get a decent exchange on around 10 fish for one new tankmate!

So yeah, necessity has stopped me from buying a new fish each week :eek3:
 
I haven't by any fish for nearly a year now! Mostly because I keep gar and I can hook them out of the river near by!
 
You don't control yourself!! You buy more fish, buy more tanks, change more water and then when you run out of room... buy another "fish house".
 
I tell myself im not buying anymore fish.........until I buy another tank...Now I just bought 2 tanks to start 2 more projects. I also have a 144"x32"x32" thats getting glass ordered in about a week. Its gonna be my headboard for my bed:)

@ mr fishy: lol!

My BF told me that if I keep obsessing over my fish, he's gonna break up with me! I guess its all I talk about...Fish, the LFS, my fish buddies, MFK...Now I'm grounded. And it also helps that I went 6 weeks without a paycheck so now I have to play catch-up with the bills....
