  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
UGH, I hate power outages. I was without power for 4 days, and three additional times that month. Hope you guys at least had some marshmallows.

I have an AC adapter for my car that I use for power outages. Last year we lost power for ~ 8 hours. I hooked up the AC adapter to the car's cigarette lighter, ran a 100ft extension cord to the basement; and keep power to one HOB in each tank. No losses!

Every two-three hours I would start the car to recharge the battery.

It's 75 here in tidewater but should jack frost show up this winter i have a 5,000 watt generator ready to keep those monster fish swimming through a blizzard.

eeeek......this just reminds me of what we have coming our way down here in southeastern ma...we are ~above the bridge~ which means not technically cape cod, but this is where its supposed to hit pretty strong....cripes...i hate when the power goes out....
we are lucky because we still will have heat!....but other places we have wrapped tanks with blankets in the winter when we lost power to try to keep em warm!..
turning water over to prep it before this happens might help....generators are definetly a solution....but who can afford to run em nowadays!....
best wishes to all of ya who are enduring this now.......wondering if dosing with bag buddies would help at all??

we got nailed last season with a big ice storm here took my power out for 2 weeks....at the time i had a heavily planted tank and luckily didnt loose a fish.*LOL* spent a couple hours blowing air in through a hose*L* all the pet shops were out of battery powered bubblers....since then i have gotten a few*L*

all you mfkers in missouri....not sure if your ice has melted yet, but you've got a crap load of snow coming tonight and tomorrow, so be ready for more power outages...my mom lives at the lake of the ozarks (also where I am from) and she still has a ton of ice and is getting ready for a foot of snow, possibly more...
hope it's all cleared up in time for us to go down for christmas vacation monday, sheesh...

We have had several ICE storms down here in southern Oklahoma in the last few years, the worst being in 2000. We just came home with a newborn and did not have power for 5 days. Some here did not have it for over two weeks.

I installed a 40KW generator at the house. I can run everything. It can run continously for over a week with out refueling on propane. I have a lot of friends when we loose power as they want to come over and be warm and watch a movie.

Doing fine so far. No power out as yet, but the generator is gassed and ready just in case.
Only some snow, sleet, and currently rain.
Calling for only 1-2 inches of snow by morning, so we should be fine here, unless some idiot smashes a power pole close by.(very possible with all the idiots around here) :)
