Ich in tank with AUL

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Good grief! What are your water parameters right now? Bloody red scales would mean one thing, your deteriorated water conditions are taking its toll on the fish.:( If I were you, just feed the fish and do daily water changes. Without the nutritional diet (while still maintaining clean environment), they cannot resist any health issues easily. Salt alone will not help much if you don't provide them a way to resist the parasites themselves.

It doesnt appear to be getting any better i dont know about worse either though..

He is not eating and my temensis is being a pig because i havent fed for awhile.. I wanto get the salt out of the tank asap so i am raising the temp to hopefulyl around 31, but i heard lungfish can only go to 29????

31 deg = i can get rid of some of the salt in the tank and yeah..

Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0.25
Nitrates around 30 or 40

I think my problem when i used the existing media was i took it out of a fully wet environment into a wet/dry system. I cant get the nitrites below 0.25 it has been over a week now i try and feed a little but water change the next day so the nitrites doesnt climb any higher.

The ich is still here i added more salt i must be at 1tbsp per 5gal now, lungfish seems okay still.

Somebody please help i think he is on his last legs, he is losing flesh off his gills or slime coat i dont know :(

Did you dissolve the salt thoroughly? How are you adding salt? Please elaborate the intervals between dosing salt. If you were not dissolving the salt thoroughly nor adding it carefully and slowly, then this would hinder any bottom dwellers as salt grains can burn their skin and other sensitive areas thus killing them in the process.

using a stocking adding 10 or less tblspoons at a time and only leave the very end of the stocking in the water.

My tsn are fine though and my lung hasn't stressed a bit i thought a arrowana would have a higher tolerance level than them?

For some reason, the second to the last post of yours made me think it was the lungfish who has his gill and slime coat issue.:duh: I've been having problems comprehending some bits of posts every evening.lol

Not all fish are the same in terms of tolerance levels. Could you please post photos of the arowana's affected areas? Are the gills bloody red or pale? I am suspecting your arowana may be battling another issue aside from ich.

I see no ich on him nemore..

Sorry about my way of trying to describe something sometimes its hard..

Pics are hard to get but the scales have been indented where the redness is.

Only thing that i can see with his gills is some slime coat or skin coming off and some coming off on his fins aswell..

I forgot the test results. If you really cannot cope with the water conditions kept on tiptop condition, your options are either do more water changes or cut down the number of fish you have. You need to rehome the rest to give your water conditions a chance to keep themselves consistently on your expectations.

What dechlorinator do you add? Have you handled him? If not, this just comes down to poor water conditions. You need to address this issue especially as you have nitrite that is extremely toxic to the arowana.

i had no worries with my previous tank minus the arrow and temensis and it was fine with a smaller sump aswell...

Im running a 3x2x1.5 wet/dry sump almost full with media (that is a crap load of media! With a 7500 litre an hour pump

I use API water conditioner

.
What is that supposed to mean? i can definately cope with keeping a few large fish im sure we've all experienced some problems when upgrading to a new, much bigger tank.

I am not getting rid of any of my fish unless they are taken by the reaper, the tank is still quite minimally stocked IMO.

Tested the nitrites this morning and i was stoked when i come up blue! 0 nitrites and the arrow took one whitebait so hopefully things can only improve from here.
