ICH on my Bass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Kelberi can tolerate 1 tablespoon of salt per gallon. Start off with 1 teaspoon of salt per gallon and then work your way up to 3 teaspoons of salt per gallon in the previous instructions.

Hello James; Opinions about this have been stated more than once already in this thread. Let me suggest you pick one of the members and follow their advice or perhaps read thru the thread again. I do not think the answers will change because you have asked the question again.
You can also do a search as there are many threads on the subject of ich.
Good luck

Well I was just wondering if the peacock bass could handle 90+ and if higher temps past 90 kill quicker.....But Ill leavel everything as is since the ich spots have been slowly going away.

But one thing i did notice is that one peacock bass has 1 cloudy eye on his right side. Is their a way to heal him or help him get better or does that mean he is now blind in one eye??

Good copy on that, going to do a water change tomorrow and maybe take out the sand in the tank and go bottomless but Ive read that a baby peacock bass need substrate, is this true??

The cloudy eye could be a sign of a secondary bacterial infection as a result of the ich.

I kept a juvenile kelberi in quarantine without any substrate.

Cloudy eye is usually an indicator of poor tank husbandry, not always but most of the time I can’t remember if you have posted up your water parameters. I would suggest test water parameters see where they are and go from there.

Baby bass can handle 90 plus degrees. I used to keep my grow outs at 91/92 degrees. I also used to have a 300 gallon tank in my garage with adult bass and it would hit 90/91 in the summer time they would be super hungry all the time

I tested it 2 weeks ago and everything was good......So if the water parameters are good then what could I suspect or do now to insure he heals??

So water parameters seem to be good and temp at 90 and ich seems to be undercontrol.

Would it be bad to dose Melafix or malchite green to help with the healing properties for the one guy with the bad eye??

Bump to the previous question and heres a better pic of the bass so that someone can ID him. Also hes the one that is injured

Hello; The short answer is yes it is not a good idea to mix more than one medication at the same time.
I am still assuming you are treating ich with high temps and salt. So do not treat with a second medication. As suggested, clean water by WC and keep the salt concentration at the effective level.
I am also assuming you are treating a large tank with other fish in it. Adding a second medication can be hard on all the fish and is uncertain to help the cloudy eye. My guess is that fish has lost the sight in that eye regardless.

The exception can be if you are going to treat the fish by itself in a separate QT (quarantine tank). Still a good chance that double dosing with more than one medication will do more harm than good.

All that said I get the impression you are cherry picking the suggestions that have already been made and apparently do not like some of them. This is because you are essentially asking the same question again. It boils down to the fact we each get to run our tanks any way we wish.
Good luck anyway.

Sorry for asking basically the same question....so it's safe to assume that he won't regain his vision in that eye and let the salt do it's thing as a mediator along with clear water.

Can I also assume that these fish are azul as mention before??
