I've had the tank temp raised to 90 for a week and no signs of improvement. I just added a half dose of salt today to see if that helps. Is it ich or possibly image.jpgsomething else?

I thought it may have been velvet/oodinium but after reinspection, I'm not so sure.

only on the one fish? takes about a week or so for the them to all fall off, you are saying none have? any thing new added to the tank lately?

No 7 of m loaches have it and now I see it showing up on my paroon sharks. I have been adding new fish lately and I don't have a quarantine tank. I had ich about 2 months ago when I first got my clown loaches. but I haven't seen any symptoms since I treated it last time. Usually it falls off fast than a week, at least in my previous experiences it has.

I agree, at 90 should see great results. tank size? water change schedule?, water perams?, stock?. filtration? all the ussuel questions to start to fig out.

45 gallon. 50% once a week. fluval 306. stock- largely overstocked lol as I am moving half the fish into another 45 gallon, but I want to treat whatever this is first. To be exact I have 5 small id sharks, 4 small paroons, small black aro, baby tigrinus, 7 1-2" clown loaches, small flag tail, ghost knife, and 2 tiny peacock eels. The two 45 gallons are meant to be my growout tanks.

I have heard of heat resistant strains of ich. Could this possibly be the case here? I only added a half dose of salt due to the CL's and the BGK.

you really want to up those water changes, i would add a HoB like a AC70 or AC110 better for that stock just for the mech filtration with that stock, I would be doing twice a week 80% being sure to add prime for size of tank, not water replacing before you add new water. keep the temp up, and add some melafix and pimafix for preventive. if not better may have to move to stronger measures.

salt will kill the scaleless fish, that is a good move there.

I am not going to bull turd you, water changes are more than likes the root of the problem. as in not enough, water may look crystal clear? but still a toxic soup. water changes have to happen, do you test your water? and if so what test kit do you use?

I have been using tetra test strips as its the only thing I have on hand right now. I think 80% water changes might do more harm then good, not trying to disagree with you, just my opinion. I recently found out my tap water comes out with chloramines in it, and I just switched my water conditioner to prime in order to deal with it. (I just moved to a new city). I have 2 Fluval Q-2's running on it right now in order to maintain high oxygen levels with the high water temperature.
