Just make sure you keep the medication levels at the appropriate level. If it drops that can allow the ich to spread.
yea I have a copper kit to help the situation just hanging on. I will repost my result within 2 weeks. I assume since it has been 5 days since the initial spots first showed up and it does not seem to be spreading that treatment is having some effect.

Yah I would just watch at this time, certainly if the spots explode out of control then that is a problem but at this point technically you have 9 days of treatment left, if you first started 5 days ago.
I’m not aware of any treatment that actually halts the ichs life cycle.
It is only at certain parts of the ichs life cycle that it can be killed.
Maybe this is what you meant.
Either way you are correct that it is recommended to treat for 14 days.
This is to insure that all the parasites complete their life cycle and become free swimming. It is at that point that the parasites can be killed.
While doing your ich treatment it wouldn't hurt to sometimes feed your fish food soaked in garlic -- I'm not sure how scientifically provable it is, but in my (albeit limited) personal experience, it helps to clear up ich faster on the fish's body itself, though of course you'll still need to do your other full treatment to get rid of the rest.
I use Seachem's Garlic Guard a couple of times a week with all my fish since that little outbreak a couple of years ago, haven't had a case since knock on wood, though there are likely other factors as well.

I've heard this from others as well, though have never tried it myself.
Update, I CURED the ich with no loss to live stock using Cupramine, Aquarium Salt, and a temp of 84. Everything survived and fishes were all still eating and active during treatment.
