True I shall wait the treatment period thanks for the advice, possibly saved me from overdosing by trying to retop from water changes!

I’m not aware of any treatment that actually halts the ichs life cycle.Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that the treatment for ich halts a certain part of the life cycle. Due to this it takes time to work. The recommended treatment time for ich is 14 days which is why you may not have full resolution at this time. Continue the course for the full treatment then re-assess.

It is only at certain parts of the ichs life cycle that it can be killed.
Maybe this is what you meant.
Either way you are correct that it is recommended to treat for 14 days.
This is to insure that all the parasites complete their life cycle and become free swimming. It is at that point that the parasites can be killed.
While doing your ich treatment it wouldn't hurt to sometimes feed your fish food soaked in garlic -- I'm not sure how scientifically provable it is, but in my (albeit limited) personal experience, it helps to clear up ich faster on the fish's body itself, though of course you'll still need to do your other full treatment to get rid of the rest.
I use Seachem's Garlic Guard a couple of times a week with all my fish since that little outbreak a couple of years ago, haven't had a case since knock on wood, though there are likely other factors as well.
