Here is an interestinf factoid.
All of the Cichla Ocellaris in Hawaii are from just 6 fish!
In 1957 DLNR purchaced 16 fish from a supplier in Brooklyn NY.
The fish were raised for 3 years, and 2 of the remaining 6 paired off and
spawned. All 6 adults were killed in some act of vandalism. After 9 months
in a pond 58 of the offspring were transfered to resivoirs on Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii (The big island)

thats a pretty cool fact....but is it possible to keep the occels. pure if new sub species are introduced? or will they more than likely hybridize...`
I am pretty sure they would interbreed and there would be hybrids after a while. like I said, it is only a matter of time until all these small bass outgrow there owners tank...
