  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Those are some type of amphilophus, prolly the normal red devil/midas. THey just haven't faded yet. I have had both Festae and devils and those are devils. I have also had uro's and they are not uro's

they were NOT sold to me as red devils. The manager said very clearly that they were NOT red devils ,but couldn't make a different tag for them.

I know him, he's my girlfriend's boss, and he knows a good deal about this stuff. He also said that he's never seen a red devil come in like this in the four years he's worked there. Maybe it's a different Amphi, but every festae picture I've seen looks like what I've got, and the midas pictures really don't.

It's shorter than the young midas. The fins are tinted red with blue spangles, and now that they are comfortable and not being terrorized the coloring is spot-effing-on. they aren't that tan-poop-blah color, they have a black/reddish/yellowish color.

If the body was more elongated, I'd agree with all of you. It's way different since you can't see it in person. I'll try to get some newer pictures after I eat something.

The person working the petsmart by me told me the same thing, however, they were...

If modest man wern't right, I would be rubbing it in:D Beleive me, because i think i can identify CA cichlids better then he can. Been around CA ciclids for over 40 years ..... grew up with them; CA cichlids were in my bed room since I was 2-3 yrs. old.

Did a little more searching and sleuthing and I have concluded its a juvie Carcharodon Carcharias. When you look at the evidence its pretty obvious.

lol

I'm taking new pictures now. I had to take my best friend to the hospital so I was with him for a few days. They look an awful lot like the guys in the video posted a couple pages back.

I've never seen a baby red devil/midas with red under the chin. I still don't think they are red devils. Maybe not festae, but definitely not red devil. The bigger one, I think, looks more like a RD. The one that's 1 cm or so smaller is definitely not.

If ya'll still think RD, then we'll go with that. Grow him out, so how it goes, cool. I just got a dovii in a different growout, and will be ordering fish listed as A. festae soon anyhow, so all is well either way.

Alright guys. The little one [now 2 inches] has colored up like a red devil. He's actually pretty cool. The larger one, now about four inches, has colored up differently. The small one is absolutely a red devil. The bigger one has stronger barring, a pale tan/yellow base, and some maroon/reds coming in. here's what he looks like:

unfortunately he's lost some color due to stress here. I had to move him and took the picture a little while after that.

I still think it's not a red devil. But who knows.
