i just said i wasnt sure with the coloration cause i have not seen a longnose with such beautiful coloration.

he knows L. osseus is a longnose....He has already called it both...He is saying that you post just t post and rarely have anything helpful to say...It was already ID'd before you even posted.

Anyway, to try to stay ontopic, I agree, very nice longnose!! Looks nothing like the one I had. Of course, all gar are different. Great find!
 
definitely a longnose as stated above several times. given some of our (mine and richards) recent experience/comparisons with wild gars, i would also be interested in whether you caught it or purchased it. this looks a lot like a wild longnose (first one i kept for an extended period of time) back in the day. great pattern on that fish, nice orange-ish coloration in the fins as well--
