I assumed it was a Mbuna Sp...but I really have no clue....one of the guys tried to say it was a long nosed blue lab species??? Im really lost...

By it's fins and body shape and color thats a cichlid of lake Malawi. There are, (Aulonocara, lodotrophoes, Labeotrophoes, Melanochromis, and Pseudotropheus species). From the color it looks like a mix between the Blue Zebra cichlid and one of the others there is over 250 species of cichlids living in lake Malawi. These cichlids can be colorful, but aggressive fish.

Im with Mike. For sure that is not a Mbuna. He must be a aulonocara hybrid. A nice looking hybrid. I like his black fins.

First off, the store owner has no way of knowing if it is or isn't a hybrid - he took it as a trade-in which means he's taking it in on 'faith' that the previous owner was truthful.

In my opinion it is likely a hybrid - of what, who knows. The only other option is that it could be a Lethrinops species, but without a name attached that can't be verified.

Either you will have to have the shop owner contact the trade-in owner for a name or just live with it as is. How much hassle do you want to go through? ;)

nice, looks like a hybrid... Electric Blue and a Hap venus
