I can't seem to get the camera to focuss well in the water without the flash, and with the flash, the glass looks horrible. What can you do... you know.
 
Even using a torch or powerful light from above into the tank can help... relections are when you are shining in light from the same direction that you are taking the picture.

Add lights to the top of your tank shining in from the top, not from the front.
 
That scares the fish, but each time I do it they get a little more use to it. Also they always seeem to find just the right shadow to be in, but thanks, great ideas.

I've also got some driftwood that darkens the water and although in person it doesn't look bad, I think that my camera has a hard time focussing on the fish instead of the water. I'm doing a water change this weekend so the water should be clearer then to take pictures.
 
I know what you mean, I have some pretty tanned water in a couple of tanks, and makes life harder for the camera.
