i remember the same discussion when they discovered 7 bar frontosas

Not to derail but the 7 stripe is now the only actual frontosa after the reclassification.

^how do you know^

Because someone told you?

Now i aint tryna start anything all im saying is that alot of the time importers dont mark there fish as the correct species!

lol because i have reliable sources... i know this importer for a while and his i.d. are correct because he has been in the business for many years and has yet to get me wrong i.d.s plus i know what im talken about and have lots of experience. i been in the cichla game for over 9 years and have had my hands on many wild cichla for that is what i only deal with. i been in it before diesel mac.. do you know Red1? i can i.d any cichla with my eyes closed.. not literal lol, and give you the region (river) they are from 70-80 percent of the time with out having to break into my info.. i have pics of cichla in peoples tanks that no one has ever seen before ;) neoprodigy.. Li will back me up :D he is a good friend on mine and knows me quite well i would say.

p.s. orinos, ocellaris, and tems are not the only cichla that have red eyes.. basically all wild cichla get red eyes and some will never depending on region.. some stay red, some fade the red, some constantly change depending on mood

also most of my fish never come from local fish shops and are usually shipped to me

It's all good boosteN. You know you don't have to prove anything around here. At least not to those of us that know! Here look chichla:chillpill:.

Boosten knows his stuff no one has to question that around here.

Looks like boosten is wrong. They are ocells. Do a google search of peacockbass in panama and you can read all about their introduction.

So much for IDing with your eyes closed...

lol yes as superlaz corrected me on page on, they introduced wild ocellaris into panama.. but those fish you posted on the first page hold no characteristics of a ocellaris bradda ... take a look for yourself. show me where you see occelaris characteristics. your saying the cichla they introduced to puerto rico are ocellaris too?.. i have see pics and they are bassically sp. kelberi but with less yellow.. i think after so long evolution sets in... as you could see in florida cichla they are basically a cross also you also never know if they ONLY stocked these waters with ocellaris. if they are stocking fry i'd say there is a chance of some mono making there way down there and split it up. i mean most likely when introducing wild fish into an area they are netting everything and introducing last amounts. just theories but you never know.
