I know for a fact these two fish were wild caught in Panama. The pics were taken by a guy collecting there and then released so sadly they are not mine.

There are several papers available talking about the introduction of the Cichla Ocell. in Panama.

Neither a hybrid or an ocellaris but it's own specie, I think.

It was formerly described as Cichla sp "Madiera" and later identified by Kullander as Cichla pleiozona. True 4 bar Pbass.

Interesting Joey. This link shows some adults (page 2).

From what Ive read, they were introduced from Venezuala in the '50s.
