Put some Salt in that water. For the open wound.
did a big water change, bumped up the temp and added salt last night ;)

I had the same thing happen to a baby black arowana. It got its eye eatten out by a sengal. bichirs can be a pain sometimes

my albino bichir did the same thing to my false gar.. i separated them and gar is doing great... must be a poly-bichir thing.. to go for the eyes..

Had that happen to my id shark, skin will heal over the socket and believe me, catfish have no problem adapting to living like that. I also have a pimelodus blochii that's blind in one eye and gets along just fine.

its good to hear im not alone, he is already healing too, but it is just unnatractive and it looks painful :(

Wow... That's crazy.

Ya I'm hoping more bichirs will spread out the aggression a little

I've got a sorubim lima in with mine and theyve been fine for getting on a year , the sorubim lima is an easy target as they dont swim an awfull lot and stay in their huntinh posistion for some time!

Funny, I've had bichirs for 10 years and never had anything lose an eye...perhaps because I don't feed live they lose the instinct.
