FEMALES are blue, males turn golden yellow

OK, ok, bite me I assumed....which makes and @$$ out of U and ME that typically the male will be the more vibrantly colored.....atleast I didn't tell him it was a convict

I used to have one just like that, I called him bumble bee but i m sure kenei or whatever you spell it, is their comom name. they can be very aggressive, however mines wasnt.

A 'bumblebee' cichlid is a Psuedotropheus crabro...and they don't really have horizontal stripes, they have vertical barring like a kenyi. A crabro's barring is much heavier though, thicker, and 'messier' - not as well definited, towards the bottom they kind of 'bleed' into the next bar. Also, in this case, the females are yellow, while the males turn a dark brown. Crabro's are a brighter yellow, kenyi males are a golden yellow.
