Yep, definitely a bluegill. Ear flap black all the way to the edge and dark spot at the back of the soft dorsal give it away

get your facts straight, nuggets. it has already been said its a bluegill. once again, I own one myself, I think I would know what they look like, unless of course you say so, right?:screwy:

as an adult, yes! thats obviously a juvenile bluegill, stop questioning people with the experience needed to properly identify them! Mine is about 5 inches long and it looks identical to that! don't tell us that we are wrong when we know what we are talking about

and yes, you still need to get YOUR facts straight

this is just plain ridiculous, now people who clearly have absolutely NO experience with sunfish identifying are throwing out random, unsupported guesses. there is no way that is a crappie. it is a bluegill-period.
