yea i would watch him i have seen my oscar bite a gar in half before i knew they whe illeagal to keep. lol but yea watch him cuz if hes big enough for home to or even get a hold of he will.

Looks like a Longnose to me. Nice fish! I would lose the Oscar though. longnose can be tough enough to keep by themselves let alone with an Oscar harassing it...just because it's working now, don't count on it continuing to work.

very cool. i dont know what type it is but wanted to add that i am considering the purchase of a gar. i have a 150 and 220 gal tank, but dont know how big gar's get.
hope it works out with the oscar

that's a Florida/spotted...and definitely needs more food...the head should not be so much wider (as seen in the dorsal shot) than the rest of the body. fatten that fish up --
