Thank you ALL for the help :D

One wierd thing!
Fishbase says that the aurantimaculata snakehead grows to 40cm, while this snakehead was 106cm :o
Strange, and this wasn't caught in Assam ^^ I caught it near Kolkata, just a few hours from the city.

And when I look at the aurantimaculata pictures, the Aurant looks a little bit more diffirent.

Btw, I know, the snakehead looks pretty small on the picture :o

the only snakehead that can get that size would be a channa diplogramma. The one in the picture is auranti 100%, im assuming you've gotten those photos from an exporter in india? if so, he might've gotten the photos mixed up, there is no way an auranti can get to 106cm, though, that would be awesome :(

diplogrammas look like this...

I can't believe the fish in the 1st picture of this thread is over a metre in length! :grinno:

A fish out of water will sometimes change it's colours due to stress etc or simply look darker depending on the fishes mood/breeding status/ surroundings.

Several species of channa grow over the metre mark....C argus, C micropeltes and certain varieties of C marulius, but it doesn't look like any of those.

I read in a Japanese fish magazine that Auranti's grow to a max size of 80cm, but that seems to be false evidence lol.

Atleast i think it was 106 cm, something near that, maybe I'm wrong hm.

Anyway, Channa Aurantimaculata can't be found in that Area i where fishing in ;< it's too hot there, I where in a place near Digha which is almost in the end of the West Bengal state, And I tell you guys, it's soo hot there for a Aurantimaculata snakehad hm:/

But who knows, I might have been lucky :D
