Hi i bought a fish earlier today marked up as a Green Texas cichlid (Carpintis) (£3.95)

however looking at him closer he looks to have a flower line

That being said Flowerhorns are non existent locally.

The bloke in the shop said that hes a normal texas, but after i challenged it a few times he said he came from a tank that had trimacs and other ca's

So my guess is Texas x Trimac

it was a total impulse buy because of the flowerline, i dont have room for an adult because i want that tank for my Oscar, but my plan was, if he goes red and does turn out to be a flowerhorn then i may keep him instead, if not i will grow him with my Oscar to about 5"ish then sell him for cheap like £5

SO whats your opinions?

Its got a flowerline so i suppose its Trimac x Texas, only got red in the dorsal fin so dont think Flowerhorn.

Any ideas guys? hes very friendly with my Oscar whos slightly bigger and he has been flirting for food from the second he went in he was eating pellets lol

I'm in love with my Oscar but this guys personality is amazing its going to be a hard choice between the 2, if the hybrid gets red in him that might just tip the scales for me.

I think it looks to be crossed with salvini, nice colors, should look sweet grown out

Salvini sounds possible because i have never seen a Trimac in my life and i have only seen Flowerhorns once in a different town, i have noticed he doesen't have the flower/black spot on his head and below his eye that Trimacs and FHs have, but his flower line across his tummy are identical to that of Trimacs/FHs, he also has a massive oscar like personailty and appetite which from experience are not Texas and Salvini traits.

How long do you think it will be safe to grow this guy out with my Oscar in my 75g? im guessing 5" big cichlids usually hit maturity at 6"

I'm also interested to see what i create if i cross him with a female Blood Parrot. (red texas with a big personailty??)

He aslo has a bit of a hump coming on his head.

Again it has no red and it has a flowerline, what makes you say it is not a Trimac x Texas?
