i think venezualans have more spangles?
and keep them later than most of the others?
im just guessing....

Ok, enough guessing please. The fish is one of the original ones bred and raised by Ron Looi in Asia. That stock is what many of the Asian-bred C. temensis originated from. The fish is one of the early grow outs. Ron and I spoke often in the 90's and he sent me photos of the original group from which that male and several females were a part of. They looked like normal temensis. There is no collection information available on that original stock. Many said it was from VZ, but some said it was from the Rio Negro, Brazil. No one knows for sure.
Hope that helped :)

Awesome Brian, thanks for that info. I was looking at temensis distribution the other day and thinking it occupies a sigficant area in SA and why there aren't a lot of variation seen.. or maybe I am just not searching hard enough.

Those horizontal dot line throw me off.... according to those azul progression pictures posted, those horizontal dot lines usually disappear at that size.... I hate to ID these ambiguous individuals ,but would love to have some. :naughty::naughty:

Do you have a 1800 hot line that I can call??? :D

Let me see if I can come up some more challenging pictures.
