Too hard to tell exactly... Your pictures lack quality and fish is still young...

What do you need to see in a clear photo to be able to determine what it is?

Similar, but the upper jaw on yours curves down like a beak and the mouth doesn't close.

On mine, the upper jaw is straight, and the mouth closes fully.

The body is not as round on mine also, which makes mine resemble a red devil more than a blood parrot.

I do like those blood parrots I see at wal-marts, their mouth looks better than the others I see at some LFS.

I like mine more than the rest because it will not look grotesque when it's older.

Out of the 3, I still have 2 and both can close their mouths. Your parrot came from the same wholesaler/breeder that mine did, trust me.

Thats a very assertive claim, and honestly, based on their appearance, Im pretty sure youre wrong. Its nothing personal, just irks me when people make definitive claims like that with nothing to back it up.

The bloodparrots at my walmart probably came frome the same place as yours sure because they look exactly the same.

The one I posted came from a small lfs, and all three looked exactly the same other than color (mine was the most red), and are very different from the ones at my walmart.

So you are telling me that this parrot of yours looks nothing like one of mine?

Yours

Blood Parrots aren't as commonly bred as other cichlids so regardless of what store you get yours from or what wholesaler the store gets them from, more than likely they come from the same breeder.

And case you aren't aware, when you breed hybrids there is no one cookie cutter for what you get, you get so many different variation. So there will be some variations in them.

Ours are similar enough for me to say they are from the same breeder. Whether there is a new breeder producing them, the breeder has changed the formula, or breeder has stopped culling, these type of parrots are showing up everywhere.

The differences seem more than subtle to me, but you have a good point about hybrids producing a lot of different shapes/colors etc...

Who breeds parrot cichlids that you know of? (farm, or person)

I never knew that blood parrots were so exclusive so I'm curious about who is producing them, and where.

Probably a farm in the US that isn't culling. These have been selling for cheap compared to a year ago, I have seen them from $5-10.
