Any fish can. These are hardier, that doesn't necessarily mean they're less skittish. That comes down to the personality of the individual fish.

still wondering if they have that SDS like the scombs. If not, i'll consider buying some for a future stock!
Mine made it almost 6 years. Similar to Tats as it seems most people get bored with them, add more aggressive tank mates then they end up doing poorly. They can be skittish, fragile, and can rub half their snouts off IF kept in the wrong conditions. They need room and careful selection of tank mates but other then that they are pretty hardy, easy to convert and can be great teacher fish for stubborn hard to break fish. Mine didn't seem aggressive at all towards tank mates and was actually pretty timid around other fish.
It'll come down to individual fish's personality and the quality of care it's given.......
Negative. Just found him dead one day in the pond. Probably have pics of him when I netted him out somewhere. lol
I figured at 6 years I did pretty well considering I didn't know what I was doing back then with filtration, or Characins. It's enviroment was far from ideal.
Not sure what there actual lifespan is or should be.
I'd think Rhaphs to be fine with any dollars, barbs, or anything we consider dithers.
sds may be dithes but when they ae 6 to 8 inches they stress the heck out of my 11 inche african pike when they feed.
That's cause just like a majority of this forum people don't seem to understand that Odoe do much better in groups. I've heard countless stories of angry/timid/spaztic/psycho Odoe on this forum and of the 20+ Odoe I've kept over the years I've never seen or experienced any of this. I've always kept groups. They hang out together, move as a group, and there's never fighting amongst the group.
Make them the majority instead of the minority and I bet things change.
How big is the tank? Can the Odoe not move to the other end when they're feeding?
He is only skittish for the five minutes it takes the SDs to feed. Otherwise very solid fish. Tank is a little tight for him so no room for more. Only a 125g for now
