Leo/Henlei what lol come on guys you can do better then that, Here is the picture of male when it arrived from Brazil months ago. Also most wild caught BD's have yellowish spots. The spots dont turn white till start getting into the 1st and 2nd generation pups they produce. Do yourself a favor and change your light gravel, This is reason why your ray is light colored. You can see from picture below he was very black when I got it. And who said both were leo/henlei? lol the one on right is typical common leo looks nothing like hybrid did you buy one on right off of me? I dont remember. I know you got the BD but cant remember if you bought any other rays.

wow i never noticed the bds having yellowish spots...

put him next to a reg leo and u can see it plain as day...

Hi guys,

none of the rays shown here in this thread does look like a Henlei x Leopoldi :screwy: No closeup of the tail is necessary to see that.....it has always been the same, that some wc leos (BD and also usual) have more yellowish spots then others, which also turn white later.
In my opinion, this could probably depend on the kind of river bed (bottom colour, brightness of the water) the ray was caught on/in. I also recognized with cb leopoldi an P14, that they tend to have yellowish spots when kept on dark ground for a longer time.....which turns white when kept on bright bottom.

If wildcaught, Henlei x Leo is of course not possible, because of the seperated river systems they are coming from!

Regards
Stefan

I have to agree with Mike. My wild bds have yellowish spots when they just arrived. Once the fish settle down, the spots turn white. A little sun tanning helps too.

i thought the traits of a BD were

whiter than normal spots
blacker than normal leo
and belly spotting
higher price

you must know if you paid more for tha ray than a normal leo

Those were the traits before ban was lifted , Now a days belly spotting no one looks for and wild rays all have yellow spots when imported.

Those were traits set for captive bred and sold BD rays.

What does traits have to do with a ban on them ?Not all rays imported come in with yellow spotting .

Get a hold of yourself bro, Try understand what people are saying before you comment.

1st there were a set of traits developed my Asian buyers/customers in past. This all happend WHILE THE RAYS WERE ALREADY BANNED and BD's were selling for tens of thousands of dollars in Asia.

2nd when ban was lifted and quota was released people didnt care so much about those traits anymore cause they were just happy to buy any BD for reasonable price.

3rd we are all aware not all wild BD have yellow spotting but most do, for me more then 90% we imported have yellow spotting and yes some do have white spots.

If you have something to say or want pick fight feel free.

But your comment these are definitely Leo/Henlei is wrong.

Hey , i just asked you a question about it.The way you stated it before didnt make sense ,not my fault.
