It may not look exactly, just like humans all look a little different, depending on size, food, where it was collected, parents.. you notice all dalmations look a little different too right?

but the over all shape, coloration, structure of the fish, is a spilopleura complex fish, but seems to lack the heavy spotting, thus we call it maculatus. the one that JD had was 9" and your's is probably 4" I'd say just judging by the shape of the fish? So, either way, its a spilo complex fish we call maculatus, or if you think its different or special, that's ok too, as we embrace differences, and if your's is unique that is awesome! Its a beautiful fish, many maculatus display a purple sheen on top of the gold and green, one of the most colorful serrasalmus!

My Mac is 9" also. Now looking at all the pics I'm agreeing to the one at the start of the post is a Mac also.
Great learning about these fish.

A few macs of my own to compare to also-

Alright got an answer from Frank-
Frank suggests that it is a S.Mac in breeding coloration....But would like to see more pics without flash to confirm the ID

thanks mate but that's mot possible i think
the serra is 5.5inch so i think its to small for that?

Exactly why he did not say "it is S.mac" only that he "suggests" until he gets better pics......

Many factors could play into the coloration of your fish...
