sorry to go off subject, carpinte is a texas cichlid right? im not too good with generic names. :D

My wild guess would be that it's not a direct pure bred x another pure bred hybrid.

If I was to guess, I'd say........ festae X carpinte crossed with a very classic ZZ FH or a trimac.

Carpinte x BP would be a RT, even if they aren't faded like this one don't quite look like this.

Just my wild guess, but yes it's not just a carpinte x BP mix almost certain.

the pearling and the color on the fin looks alot like the jack dempsey. not saying it is just saying its similar to it. please dont flame me! lol

I'm still sticking with carpinte x BP because...well I actually own some that look like this, so I'm speaking from direct experience rather than just playing "guess that fish." I see no Trimac/FH blood at all. I'd like for someone (JP) to point out some FH characteristics in this fish.

How big is your carpinte x BP ? I am assuming they are under 4", anything under that looks very familiar.;) Don't "assume" that you are the only one with the direct experience and all others just guessing away with none:D

Here are some carpinte x BP examples, male and females(ADP selling this one right now) and around the same size as the one above being discussed about.

And here's my former unfaded carpinte x BP aka unfaded SRT.

Again, I am pretty sure you are sayng yours look just alike as the one above geing discussed about, but how big is yours?:D Pics to prove? Pics speak more than words.

Carpinte x BPs do come out with less pearls as these examples(lower grades) very often, but body shape wise and all, looks same as thses above.

Here's one of my 2" Carpinte x BP for comparison. The half flowerline, the spotty pearls, the rusty body and fin color, the amber eye color, body shape, face shape...
