male Thorichthys maculipinnis (formerly T. ellioti). That would explain the aggressiveness, they are one of the more aggressive of Thorichthys species. Nice find. :)

i actually got rid of this pair of fish today as they were way to agressive and picking on any fish that crossed their path.I am a bit gutted because they were beautyfull fish ;( but there was nothing i could have done i tryed separating them in another tank 4 a week but all they done was pic on eachother and as soon as i introduced them bk into the 120g they started the same thing all over again.

thnx for all the input on this thread tho guys the feedback was fantastic!!

definitely not a jack, maybe a hybrid with a jewel and firemouth? or a blue acara in there somewhere?

either way man, its a nice fish

My female Elliotti was a *****. She would chase every fish in the tank. I eventually had to get rid of her. Beautiful fish though.

BTW. Thorichthys have this marking on the gill plate

Almost all Thorichthys have that spot on the gills. Thorichthys callolepis is the only species in the genus that does not have that spot. :)
