It's a very Amphilophus/Astatheros/Thorichthys face - ignore everyone saying it's a hybrid so far, it's almost like "Well it's not a Firemouth, but it looks like one, therefore it's a hybrid.. with a, er, Jack Dempsey I guess" - no.

exactly....give it some time. take care it and let it heal up. Then post some pics

No one said it's anything 100%. They're all just loose guesses based on a couple pics of an injured fish getting settled in a new tank. Nice attitude though, guess we should only listen to IDs guessed by certain members.

And just in case you're curious, there's reasoning behind the guesses. I know you don't live in America, but there are a few cichlid species that are found in almost every fish store across this country. When I find an odd looking species at a fish store that doesn't specialize in cichlids, there's a decent chance it's a mutt of some common species. Maybe even parented by a hybrid of common species with another generation of a pure common species--making things even more confusing.
Yes, it certainly could be a less common pure species. It may have accidentally come in with a shipment or someone may have brought it in as a donation out of something they ordered online.

Maybe I'm just thinking along the lines of Occam's razor here. :D
