Is it normal for them to try and leap from the water. The female(assuming) is trying to escape or something. She swims all around the tank like every one else, but sometimes she'll swim right up to the flowing water and try to jump. Is this part of their nature or something? I've never had a fish do this before.

Now that I've sat and really payed attention, it seems like she was striking the water. I've never seen a fish attack water before haha. Gonna keep them for about another month then get sell them back to my LFS.

100% mayan cichlid, why does everyone jump on the hybrid card, commercial fish breeders in asia that most north american stores get their supplies from do not intentionally cross breed their stock, cross breeds are usually introduced from other hobbyists.

theyre Mayans, theyre not small, theyre big and can be very aggressive (the one I had was) or they can be a great cichlid community mixer. either way they are still better than true festae because they dont hide all day or cost a fortune

I was told they were eartheaters at the lfs and I knew that wasn't right so i posted the pics on MFN and was told they were hybrids. Chill

ive never seen a uro with so many spots on there body and gill plate as the one- the smaller one does look uro.

If it becomes an unknown fish at the store and new owner gotta guess what it is then that's a great shame..

Only FHs can be a mystery because there's too much in the mix.. But as for 2 pure mix, I'd like to witness the parents...

I think they look like texas x Mayan also but that's just a guess. Who knows if their parents are pures or mixed. We see just see whatever's passed on to them now and at this stage.

And at this stage they do look like what you say they are..
